Bharata Mata College better known as BMC was started in the year 1965 It is one of the premier institutions situated in Thrikkakara Kochi Kerala. This affiliated college which occupies a total of 20.5 acres of land has been imparting higher education for last more than five decades. BMC is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) it has 28 courses in 10 degrees. In total enrolment of 2,621 and faculty of 127, the college has a favourable student faculty ratio. Based on the ethnic origin, gender distribution in BMC is also diverse whereby 56% of student enrolment was female students in undergraduate programme while 71% in postgraduate courses indicating the institution’s policy on provision of education for all.

A number of modern amenities that could be found at Bharata Mata College are quite a number that positively impacts the learning process of the students. College library is the place where knowledge lies and contains more than 48306 books and access several magazines and journals. A 1500 seating capacity fully air-conditioned modern auditorium is the central point of many academic and cultural programmes. To enhance the students’ health, the college has a mini multi-gymnasium and a fitness centre as well as different sports amenities such as 200 meter athletic track, cricket ground, hockey ground, football pitch, basketball court and volleyball court.

Bharata Mata College provides lot of options in the field of education by providing a verity of courses that can according to the students need and demand. With over 28 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, BMC offers enough student opportunities to achieve desired academic endeavours. These schools have ten specific courses of study, which other institutions commonly provide, namely: B.Com, BBA, B.Sc, BA, MBA, MSW, etc. The total admission capacity of college is 2,621  all the courses and it has more enrolment in undergraduate level. The past academic year proved advantageous for BMC as it produced a good number of graduates in view of its focus on academics and students.

For admission into the Bharata Mata College the basic process followed is Centralised Allotment Process CAP conducted by the University. For the undergraduate degree programmes, the institution uses UG CAP which stands for Undergraduate Centralised Allotment Process, for the postgraduate programmes the institution of use PGCAP, which stands for Postgraduate Centralised Allotment Process. The MBA programme offered at BMC is open to scores of one of the tests to which MAT – The Management Aptitude Test – has also added an extra option to the list.
