CMS-DU—The Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University—is one of the premier management institutes located in Dibrugarh, Assam, which was set up in the year 2003. Being an AICTE-deemed institution, this college provides quality management courses and excellence in the field of business administration. Currently, CMS-DU boasts a faculty strength of just 16 members to ensure that management education students get the best learning environment. At present, the institute has 115 pursuit students for postgraduate level, including 59% male and 41% female candidates. Fortunately, the majority of the students (99%) are from within the state, meaning that there’s a strong local enrollment. CMS-DU has 5 courses under 4 different courses for degrees and focuses on distinctive segments of management education. 

The Centre for Management Studies has adequate facilities to enhance its learning activities. The I.T. infrastructure entails a computer laboratory with thirty intelligent, Core 2, Duo processor computers with internet connection. All the structural units of the CMS block include Wi-Fi facilities, making it user-friendly to students and the faculty. The Learning and Information Resources’ Unit, located on the ground floor, acts as both the in-house library of the institute and consolidates students’ access to the necessary literature. In this manner, the Maniram Dewan Boys’ Hostel provides single-room single occupancy for 56 male students within the university. It also has a very modern language lab with 25 computers for the purpose of building the students’ interpersonal communication skills. A canteen facility serves the requirements needed to prepare meals to the staff and students, as well as offering accommodation to the an active alumni association of past learners is also present. 

CMS-DU has 5 course offerings, among them full-time and part-time programmes. The institute offers 4 full-time programmes and 1 part-time programme for the students to meet their education requirements. Of these programmes, the most popular one is the full-time MBA offered to 60 students at a time. Other offerings are BBA-40, MTTM-25, and MBA-PT-25. Furthermore, there is a Ph.D. programme in management that is financed by the institute. The institute also offers a Master of Business Administration in the following specialisations: The overall total approved intake for all the courses taken together is 150 students. According to the statistical data of the most recent academic year, 115 graduates completed the postgraduate programs. 

The admission process at CMS-DU . For the MBA, the candidates have to sit for national-level tests, namely CAT/CMAT/MAT, etc., conducted for admission into the programme. Candidates finally selected for the next level are scaled up for a group discussion and personal interview. The admission process to the BBA course is merit-based; the weight age has been assigned as: 80% marks in 10+2 qualifying examination from a recognised board or university, and the remaining 20% weight age to the personal interview.
