Department of Law, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University, Navi Mumbai, is a university level college. Situated in Shedung Gaon, Old Mumbai-Pune Highway, National University of Study and Research in Law, Panvel provides numerous law courses to individuals who wish to practice law. The Department of Law is recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI) hence, the curriculum offered meets the requirements of the supreme body governing the legal education in India. Current curriculum is designed to foster legal education along with necessary practical skills that will allow the Department of Law to prepare competent legal professional.
The campus library is well-stocked equipped with a large reading hall and a fully air-conditioned reference section to house about 250 students. This resource centre can be of great importance in positive legal research and study. For those with accommodation needs, Department of Law has a boys’ hostel well equipped with friendly facilities to offer a comfortable living space. This campus also has the cafeteria where they provide different meals and snacks, which is able to fulfill the difference taste buds, and most importantly, quality meals are provided. A gymnasium has been provided for the male and female students, this comes equipped with an air conditioner and the latest equipment for fitness. The department also includes a moot court, an essential facility through which the student practicing law can practice and develop his or her advocacy through practice by simulating a court room. Also, a variety of parking lots are available at the site for the use of faculty, staff and students.
Department of Law has designed its legal education programmes to cover all levels of study, major and concentrations. The institute offers eight courses as part of five degrees, these are bachelor's, masters and Honours degrees. They include full time programmes which include and three year LLB, five year integrated BBA LLB and BA. LLB (Hons) and two years LLM programmes with specialisation in Business Law, Constitutional Laws and Human Rights, and Criminology. The department also provides opportunities in Ph.D. level in Law in full time and part time mode to the learners who are inclined to undertake research work. The establishment of these programmes assure students select a course to study which best suits their career goals within the legal jurisprudence.

The admission process to the Department of Law is aimed at choosing students able to continue education and moulded themselves at the department in different programmes offered. For the undergraduate courses like LLB, BBA LLB, and BA LLB Hons, they have the norms of the qualifying examination marks or an interview process. The department also uses scores obtained from the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for these programmes. The same applies to LLM courses admission where candidates are offered based on there performance on previous examinations or interviews. The department is committed to the student that means that any candidate who wishes to study law is given a chance to do so.
