Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur have established the Department of Law in 2012 and the college is one of the constituent college for legal education. This is a co-educational institution, positioned in Koni, district Bilaspur Chhattisgarh. The Institution is known for its dedication for quality in providing legal education. This BCI approved department offers three programmes of law education for both, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. With a faculty strength of 3 well experienced academics, each department is lenient to make sure that students get the best direction and advice to be offered. The campus is located at Koni which makes sure that students keen on pursuing legal professionalism do so under the right circumstances. 

In terms of infrastructure the Department of Law has modern facilities to facilitate learning of its students. The college library acts as a prime source of reference consisting of standard legal books, journals, reference books and other relevant reading materials required for academic analysis. Realising the need of organising skills as significant aspect in the legal studies, the department in equipped with a Moot Court which is designed with excellence. This setup makes it easier for students to act out a trial and becomes more confident while arguing their cases in court. In addition, the college has provided great information technology resources to help students use new technologies as well as to learn up-and-coming trends in the legal field.

Department of Law offers three full time courses in total and all of them having the aim of giving full course in law education. These are two five-years integrated undergraduate programmes, BA LLB & B.Com LLB, with a total of 240 students. To cater to the need of those who are interested in higher legal education the department also offers two years LLM Self Finance programme with 60 intake capacity. Due to this diverse range of courses students can be able to choose a course that will help him or her get a job of his or her desire in the legal sector. The concerned department focuses on the quality of education offered through interrelated course structures that provide the students with theoretical knowledge as well as the demonstrative aspect of the profession. 

Admission at the Department of Law is undertaken in a way that only the best candidates for the programmes are chosen. Admission to courses such as BA LLB, B.Com LLB and LLM Self Finance are on the basis of an entrance examination. This makes it possible to get only students with the correct attitude and ability to undertake the legal education from the department.
