The first constituent college to offer flexible education opportunities; the Directorate of Open and Distance Learning, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was set up in 2018. Although established and situated in the historical city of Amritsar, this institute focuses in delivering distance education programs to students who wish to undertake diverse modes of learning. Being a co-educational institution, it admires learners of and from different backgrounds making it an inclusive institution. The Directorate currently teaches 8 courses in 7 degree programs; Commerce Computer Applications Arts and Library Science Specializations.

This institute is dedicated to offer standard education through distance mode but have requirement of modern equipments. The college also has a resourceful library whereby students are provided with relevant studying material required within college.
