B.Sc Paramedical Technology Dialysis Technology at Dr DY Patil Medical College, Navi Mumbai Offline Course

The B.Sc.in Paramedical Technology (Dialysis Technology) program is a 3-year undergraduate programme under which, we train students to work as dialysis technologist as well as nephrology assistant. After undergoing training in the subjects of basic medical sciences, students are trained to prepare dialysis fluids, wash and store of dialyzers for reuse. Students are trained to prepare a patient both physically and psychologically for the dialysis procedure by recording patient details prior to dialysis, explain the procedure and functioning of the machine, providing reassurance to anxious patients and then beginning with the physical care needed. Training also includes running safety checks for the machine settings, particularly the pressures, conductivity, and temperature. Further, students are trained to be vigilant regarding the patient’s reactions and monitor venous and arterial pressures, fluid removal and replacement as achieved during the dialysis procedure. They are also trained to help team during kidney transplantation and assist nephrologist in day to day clinical work. At the end of program, students are competent to work in tertiary care nephrology departments, dialysis unit or a transplant center.
