Candidates are eligible for entry to these courses if they have obtained:
MS in Surgery for Plastic Surgery, Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, and Pediatric Surgery MS in Surgery/Orthopedics/ENT for Neurosurgery. MD in Medicine/Pediatrics for Cardiology or Neurology. Recognition of these courses by Medical Council of India should be ascertained at the time of admission. Admissions are on the basis of All India competitive examinations conducted by the Vice Chancellors in consultation with Head of the concerned department. The entrance examination consists of theory paper, practical or clinical examination and interview. These courses are of 3 years duration. The student is given advanced hands-on training in all aspects of the concerned super specialty. In addition, he/she is required to work on and submit a thesis or dissertation.
Students for Postgraduate medical courses shall be selected strictly on the basis of their academic merit.
Candidates are eligible for entrance to these courses after completing Internship. On the basis of merit as determined by the competitive test conducted by the State Government or by the competent authority appointed by the State Government or by the university/group of universities in the same state or on the basis of merit as determined by a centralized competitive test held at the national level; or provided that wherever entrance test for Postgraduate admission is held by the State Government or a university or any other authorized examining body, the minimum percentage of marks for eligibility for admission to postgraduate medical courses shall be fifty percent for general category candidates and 40 percent for the candidate belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes.
