Dr. Umayal Ramanathan College for Women, Karaikudi started in the year 2006, is an institution for women’s education providing quality education to empower women. This affiliated college is established at Alagappapuram, Karaikudi – Tamil Nadu which lies on a 15 acres of land extent. It affiliated to many University grants commission and earned membership from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Spread across 8 degree programmes, the college offers 20 courses for its 1,652 students strength is facilitated by 75 committed faculties. The college provides a host of disciplines, such as Mathematics, Computer Applications, Business Administration, and English Literature.

Dr. Umayal Ramanathan College for Women also has many facility features that aim at developing the student and the learning process in the college. The enriched library acts as a knowledge resource centre with large numbers of books, journals and e-resources. Modern computer facilities such as computer laboratories provided with dual operating systems meet the IT intensive curriculum instruction. For a balanced development, the college possesses in- door/ out- door playing fields include games like chess/ carom/ shuttle/ kabaddi/ volleyball etc. It also has a health centre with first aided equipments to help cater for the health needs of students of the campus. One of the major achievements is the accommodation facilities especially the girls’ hostel with spacious ,well fitted out rooms,classroom/ dining halls and games/TV rooms that provide resident students with a comfortable home away from home.

Dr. Umayal Ramanathan College for Women has been imparting women’s education with 15 undergraduate courses and 5 post graduate courses to its students. Sciences for the college programme comprise Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and Information Technology, Biotechnology and Microbiology, Arts such as English and Tamil and commerce comprising B.Com and BBA. At post graduate level, the college offers such specific subjects as M.Sc – Information Technology, Mathematics and Computers Science, M.Com – Computer Application and MA in English Literature.
