Government College of Architecture and Sculpture established in Mahabalipuram in 1957 is a premier institution with specialised teaching of Art and architectural carve dedicated for conservation and practice of traditional art and architecture of India. Fortunately, Columbia is an affiliated college located in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu occupying 26 acres of land which provides a rich historical background and modern learning. Government College of Architecture and Sculpture, Mahabalipuram has three Bachelors’s degree programmes which are all full time, four year program. These are B.Tech in Traditional Architecture, BFA in Traditional Sculpture and BFA in Traditional Drawing and Painting. Current, the college has a total intake capacity of sixty student for all the offered courses, among these the BFA in Traditional Sculpture course has the highest capacity of forty students. This format enables artisans to receive training in certain specific segments of old Indian artistic and architectural heritage.
