Government Model College, Durg is an affiliated college founded in 2015 in Dhanora, Durg district of Chhattisgarh. It is an institution of higher learning, which has grown rapidly in the region given its young existence. Being a small college with a general capacity of 113 camp and 10 faculty members, the college provides individualised education. At the moment, the college is more or less a computer science college providing a programme whose name is the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Computer Science with an intake capacity of 50 students. 

Government Model College has established several amenities that can improve students’ experience. All students who need to lodge are offered boys’ and girls’ hostels that are good living facilities for students in different regions. The college will provide ample features that will enable enthusiasts in different sports disciplines involve themselves in their passion. These include the modern and widely known sports which include cricket, football and basketball and the local and ancient games including from him kabaddi and kho-kho. It also promotes membership in recreational activities, for instance swimming, boxing, archery and any other sport that may interest an individual student. A computer laboratory has also been availed to the college for the learners who are technologically inclined; students have the latest IT gadgets. The existing facilities also encompass a large parking compound, and a canteen to supplement the general needs of the institution’s learner and workers within the compound.

As of the course provided, Government Model College, Durg at present offers only one full time programme–B.Sc Computer Science. The students work for three years with the primary goal of generating excellent Computer Science skills for the growing technologically advanced market. The capacity of the course is fifty-seats, which the college has tried to retain in order to reduce the student-teacher ration in an attempt to deliver quality education. Although the college currently runs only this single programme, its commitment to computer science can point the college towards becoming an IT talent source within that region.
