Maa Shakuntala Mahila Mahavidyalaya is one of the women’s college situated in Mau, Uttar Pradesh is committed to offering higher education to the female students. In terms of academic offerings, Maa Shakuntala Mahila Mahavidyalaya, an affiliated College of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, currently provides two main courses: , a three-year Bachelor in Arts (B.A) Course and Two years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). Currently, the two courses are delivered on full-time basis, which ensures students maximise their time on the courses. This is in a view to fulfilling the college’s vision in the enhancement of skilled teachers in the region.

The admission criteria may differ from course to course in case of Maa Shakuntala Mahila Mahavidyalaya. For D.El.Ed programme admission to the programme is merit based which includes marks in the qualifying examination and entrance test. The college also adheres to any other means of selection as may be determined by the Uttar Pradesh government.
