Mar Athanasius College is one of the well known institutions which was established in the year 1955 at Kothamangalam. This college has been accredited at A+ grade by NAAC and is recognised by UGC.
Mar Athanasius College offers various undergraduate programmes. BSc, BA, BCom and BVoc are some of the courses offered at the college. MA College Kothamangalam offers MA, MSc, MCom at the undergraduate level. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Admissions to all the courses are based on merit of the qualifying examination.
The college has a separate training and placements cell that looks after the placement opportunities of their students. Due to the efforts in pre placements training via mock tests, mock interviews and guest sessions, the college has seen a good amount of increase in the number of students placed.
