SCHM Mangalore was initiated in 1988 and is one of the well-known colleges situated in Mangalore, Karnataka. This affiliated college provides a comprehensive course in hospitality and tourism and related fields. Despite being run with a limited faculty of 12 professionals, SCHM offers a good education to the students intending towards the hospitality industry. At present, the college provides 6 courses at 4 degree levels that embrace Bachelor’s, Masters, and Doctorate and delivers education in the spheres of hotel management, aviation, travel tourism, and interior design.

SCHM has some of the best-equipped headquarters and other amenities to assure that students have the best time learning. The college boasts a library with 14,000 books, 40 international and national journals, leading magazines, and newspapers that fulfill the educational requirements of the student. The facility boasts a Food Production Skills Lab, which comprises a Basic Training Kitchen, a Quantity Training Kitchen, and an Advanced Training Kitchen where the learners practice the preparation of international and Indian delicacies. An opulent bakery and confectionery section available also forms a part of this practical aspect of learning. Besides, the college also supports information technology through a more personalised computer lab with Wi-Fi connection as well as free internet browsing to assure the learners can bond with the current technological support available within the market space.

The college provides all-round courses and areas of specialisation to suit every sector within the hospitality and tourism industry. Some of them are B.Sc. Hotel Management, Four-Year Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT), B.Sc. Hotel Management, Aviation and Travel Tourism, B.Sc. Interior Designing, MBA in Hotel and Tourism Management and Ph.D in Hotel Management and Tourism. All these programmes are full-time courses; therefore, it offers the students depth knowledge and skills necessary in the industry. 

SCHM has made sure that there is a standard and justified procedure in the admission process in order to get the deserving candidates. For the majority of undergraduate & postgraduate courses, admission is by an entrance test as recognised by Srinivas University. The admission process for the Ph.D. programme is comparatively advanced; there is an entrance test, and a synopsis of the research work with a detailed proposal has to be written by the probable candidates. Since its programmes accept students twice a year in July and January, respectively, the college provides the needy students with an option to join it. SCHM also entertains applications from candidates who are non-resident Indians (NRIs), persons of Indian origin (PIOs) and foreign nationals based on the existing policy regulations of the Government of India.
