Syed Ammal Engineering College (SAEC) was started in the year 1998, located at Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, and is an affiliated college. SAEC is situated over 25 acres of area and it provides a multitude of engineering and management courses. The institute possesses recognition from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) & All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The total strength of students as well as the faculty members of SAEC comprises 925 and 87, respectively, thereby maintaining the balance between faculty and students. The college currently operates 20 courses at four degree levels in engineering and management disciplines.

SAEC provides student learning and development to enhance potential facilities for students. Therefore,. The college library, which is situated on the second floor of the college premises in the EEE building, occupies an area of 913 sq. m. and contains OPAC, which is helpful in search of books. Separate campus facilities are provided for cricket, kabaddi, football, hockey, volleyball, and an athletics track of 400 metres. There is also an indoor stadium for volleyball, badminton, and shuttlecock. This college has paid much attention to the healthcare needs of the students with an on-campus medical centre and has provided a multi-gym in the boys’ hostel. For improvement of communication ability and to practice foreign language skills, there is a Modern Language Laboratory with state-of-the art computers and software. Currently, the campus has a Wi-Fi system with seventy-one access points with the internet available to the students and lecturers.

In all, the institute teaches 14 courses, which include both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. SAEC offers B.E. & B.Tech. programmes for undergraduates in almost all engineering disciplines and for postgraduates, it offers M.E. programmes and MBA programmes. Total intake reflects all courses; full-time regular students fixed ate 925. In the latest academic year, the intake consisted of 755 undergraduate students and 95 postgraduate students. 

The admission at SAEC differs from one programme to another. Admission to undergraduate engineering courses: the college accepts TNEA counselling scores and ranks; for other courses, direct admission is available. For MBA admissions, the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test TANCET that throws its scores in is recognised. The college also accepts the Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission for postgraduate engineering courses commonly known as CEETA-PG. SAEC has availability to provide scholarships to the talents, of which 56/755 undergraduate students and 11/82 postgraduate students got refunds on the latest academic year. The college has good relations with the alumni so that they are helpful for the existing students as well as new pass-out graduates.
