Vidya Jyoti Educational Society, Dera Bassi, is an affiliated college that was established in year 2006 and is situated in Punjab, India. Located at a 3.2 acres land, this institute is located close to NH-01 near the Chandigarh-Ambala Highway and offers 46 courses under 19 degree programmes. The college has enroled 834 students and faculty base of 114 so as to foster the academic success of the students. Quality education is another strength that is shown by the institute has offering courses in each field of interest including hospitality, medical, sciences and education, commerce, management and information technology.

Vidya Jyoti Educational Society has variety of facilities which are strategically developed to facilitate learning among the students. There are separate boys and girls hostels containing facilities for single, double and triple sharing. A health centre with tools necessary to provide first aid suffice the students’ welfare. The library is an important part that is well computerised and is an air-conditioned one with more than 20,000 books, international Journals and number of digital resources. Indoor and outdoor facilities include volley ball court, basketball court, tennis court, and table tennis court. In addition, external tie ups offer tennis court and swimming pool. The information technology is strong and has four fully connected computer laboratories that have internet connection and all basic input-output devices. Other infrastructures include a cafeteria, an indoor hall, a cafeteria for various functions including seminars, internet connection, laboratory for specific departments, and air-conditioned lecture halls with audio visualisation. The college also arranges transportation facility for students for pick up and drop service from nearby area like Chandigarh, Mohali, Zirakpur, Derabassi etc on charges for easy transportation of students. 

Thus, it extends courses encompassing a broad range of subjects and specialisation areas. It offers 46 courses at different levels such asundergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, etc. These include the MHMCT, Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science, BHMCT, B.Ed, M.Ed, B.Com (Hons), M.Com, BBA, MBA, Bachelor in Information Technology and the programmes in Animation, Multimedia, Fashion Design, Journalism and Clinical Research to name but a few. It also has programmes such as, Bachelor in Catering and Culinary Arts, Master in Aviation, Tourism and Hospitality, PGD in Digital Marketing etc. All the courses are taken full time to provide profound and particular learner focus.

Intake of students in Vidya Jyoti Educational Society differs with course offered for instance, diploma programmes. As for most of the programmes in different levels, the students are selected on merit level depending on the marks achieved in qualifying examinations. Certain courses which are offered in fields of specialisation may require students to sit for entrance examinations. B.Ed and M. Ed programmes works in compliance with the admission policy of the state government/ UT administration as well as the selection criteria of university. Some of the courses such as the Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism, entry into these courses is given based on entrance test considered or first come, first served basis depending on the number of seats available for the course.
