Vidyasagar College of Optometry and Vision Science was founded in the year 1998 located at 220, Hossenpur Road, EM Bypass, Kolkata. It has a student enrolment of 237, while the faculty strength is 11, giving personal attention and quality education. Two separate kinds of programs are being offered in Vidyasagar College of Optometry and Vision Science at two different levels, that is, B.Optom and M.Optom, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study in this specialized area.

It offers a complete range of modern facilities to reinforce its academic programs. The library is the knowledge hub of the institution, which is housed in a spacious multi-storied building block and comprises vast volumes of valuable Indian and foreign textbooks, reference materials, and the latest peer-reviewed journals. There are well-equipped laboratories with up-to-date instruments for practical training in the college. It has specialized infrastructure like the Optics Lab, Biomedical labs covering General Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, and Pathology and Optometric labs comprising Instrumentation, Clinical refraction, Dispensing and Orthoptics labs. There is also a fully equipped computer laboratory for enhancement of the technology-based learning process. 

Vidyasagar College of Optometry and Vision Science offers the following two full-time courses. Bachelor of Optometry with a course tenure of four years. Master of Optometry is two-year full-time. These programs would provide a comprehensive education in the field of Optometry to convert students' dream careers into bright careers in eye care.

The admission process of the Vidyasagar College of Optometry and Vision Science for B.Optom is based on CET performance conducted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. For admission to the M.Optom course, the candidate must have qualified for a B.Optom degree from any recognized university in any state of the country and sit for the MAKAUT CET. Any offer of admission to all programs is based on a candidate's eligibility at any qualifying examination, before the aptitude test and his/her own aptitude for the respect opted program for the field of optometry.
