    Admission to four-year Undergraduate programmes at IIT Bombay is Through the JEE Advanced Exam

    Eligibility Criteria

    Eligibility Criteria for admission to First Year Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) Eligibility Criteria for Maharashtra State Candidature Candidates & All India Candidature Candidates, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, and Union Territory of Ladakh Migrant Candidature Candidates.

    (i) The Candidate should be an Indian National.

    (ii) Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology Biology Technical Vocational subjects Computer Science or Information Technology Informatics Practices or Agriculture or Engineering Graphics Business Studies and obtained at least 45 % marks (at least 40 % marks, in case of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State), in the above subjects taken together;

    AND

    The Candidate should have appeared in all the subjects in CET and obtained a non-zero score in CET conducted by the Competent Authority, or obtained a non-zero positive score in JEE (Main).

    OR

    (ii) Passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 45 % marks (at least 40 % marks, in case of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State);

    Eligibility Criteria for admission to Direct Second-Year Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) Eligibility Criteria for Maharashtra State Candidature Candidates & All-India Candidature

    (i) The Candidate should be an Indian National.

    (ii) Passed a minimum of three years or two years (Lateral Entry) Diploma Course in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of Candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section, and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State) in any branch of Engineering and Technology from an All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved Institution or its equivalent;

    OR

    (ii) Passed B.Sc. Degree from a University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities recognized University with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section, and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State) and passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as a subject;

    OR

    (ii) Passed D.Voc. Stream in the same or allied sector (refer to Schedule Il);

    (iii) Any other criterion declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

    The candidates should satisfy at least one of the following two criteria for admission to IITs:

    (1) Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST, and PwD candidates should be at least 65%. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are required as compulsory subjects in Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination.

    (2) Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

    The percentile calculation will be done for the required subjects in a single academic year only. Therefore, candidates appearing for improvement in Board examinations can EITHER appear in one or more subjects and secure 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC, ST, and PwD) after improvement, OR, appear for improvement in ALL subjects to be in top 20 percentile of the corresponding academic year.

    • The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks and the cut-off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion.

    i. Physics

    ii. Chemistry

    iii. Mathematics

    iv. A language (if the candidate has taken more than one language, then the language with the higher marks will be considered)
