Do you know after the sports quota now students can take admission based on Olympiads? Students can take admission at IIT Kanpur based on their Olympiad scores. This will give students opportunities to streamline their knowledge on the particular subject in which they want to study. BTech course admission through Olympiad involves two stages, in the first step their application is reviewed and shortlisted. The second stage is an entrance test and an interview.
BTech is an undergraduate degree programme which has multiple specialisations, such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering. Students after completing their 10+2 in Science stream appear for JEE Main to be eligible for the BTech degree programme. Candidates who want to take admission in IITs need to crack the JEE Advance and appear for JoSAA counselling process.
BTech course admission through Olympiads is nothing but bypassing the traditional way of admission into the BTech course. Students who opt for this process, need to complete their 10+2 in Science stream and also attend the Olymipad training centre for the subject they are applying for. The age criteria is the same for both JEE Advance and this process. Candidates who have opted for BTech admission through Olympiads, do not need to appear for JEE Advance and JoSAA counselling.
Students whose admission in any IITs has been cancelled previously are not eligible for this process. Not only in BTech degree programmes but also in few other domains, candidates can take admission through Olympiads’ score. The five departments where students can take admission through Olympiad score are Biological Sciences & Bioengineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Chemistry, Economic Sciences, and Mathematics & Statistics.
Admission in these five departments through Olimpiad score will be limited to a number of seats depending on the specialisation and students must have gone through a rigorous training process. The selection process involves two stages, one is reviewing the application and shortlisting. And the second stage is to appear for the entrance test and the interview.
Bachelor of Science is an undergraduate degree programme which candidates opt after completing their 10+2 in science stream. A few specialisations of BS degree are offered by IITs, one of the pioneer institutes of engineering and technology. Not only BTech, IIT Kanpur provides admission to a few BS specialisations through the Olympiad, such as Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry and Economics Science.
BTech and BS admissions through the Olympiad score will provide opportunities for the students who have proved themselves in various international competitions. It will help enhance academic excellence which can further cultivate critical thinking and analytical skills in candidates. This initiative of IIT Kanpur will also support all the disciplines in which the admission is done through the score of Olympiads. Admission through the olympiad will encourage students to participate in such competitive examinations and this will support innovations in various disciplines.
