About IISER Kolkata
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata is a government institution which was established in the year 2006 by the Ministry of Education and Government of India. IISER Kolkata offers courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels including the BS-MS Dual Degree Programme, Integrated PhD Programme, Master of Science and PhD courses.
Students must meet the minimum eligibility criteria as per the choice of the course to get enrol in the institution and appear for entrance exams like the IISER Aptitude test/ JGEEBILS/JAM. The institution also offers students a range of amenities including medical centres, laboratories, hostel accommodation, Guest Houses, library along with several others to enrich students' learning experience. As per IIESR Kolkata NIRF report 2025, the median salary offered to UG 5-year students was Rs 10 LPA.

IISER Kolkata Scholarship
Students taken admission into BS-MS dual degree programmes, Integrated Ph.D., Ph.D. programmes are entitled to IISER Kolkata scholarships. Students admitted to BS-MS dual degree are eligible for KVPY or INSPIRE scholarship of Rs. 5,000 per month. IISER Kolkata scholarships are offered to students based on their academic performance. Continuation of IISER Kolkata scholarships shall depend on the candidates’ academic performance only. Ph.D. students admitted to IISER Kolkata can avail Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF). As per PMRF policy, the eligible students will receive a fellowship of Rs. 70,000 - Rs. 80,000 per month. Additionally, they will be offered a grant of Rs. 2,00,000 per year. College Infrastructure
Facilities and infrastructure are quite good and satisfactory, like Wi-Fi, which is available 24 hours a day in all the labs, classrooms & libraries, as well as on the hostel premises. The quality of food in the mess and canteen is decent and very much eatable but it depends on the taste of the individual. Medical facilities are available on campus and ambulance services are there for any emergency.
Academic is quite rigour, Bad placement.

Candidates need to secure a minimum of 60% marks/equivalent grades in Honors/Major (if applicable) in aggregate, or 60% marks/equivalent grades in aggregate (if Honors/Major is not applicable), And 50% for other category than general category like SC,ST and other category.

Dear Aspirant,
The exact admission situation depends on a number of unpredictable factors like the preferences of students, the number of students willing to take admission and the seat matrix of the college.
There are about 1300 seats for candidates entering via IAT and about 130 seats are reserved for EWS candidates
Looking at this data we can say that you have a decent chance of getting into Tirupati, Berhampur and a small chance of getting into TVM, Mohali campus.
Kolkata is one of the most preferred campuses and hence it is quite difficult to get into IISER Kolkata.

Dear Aspirant,
It is quite hard to predict the exact situation as it depends on the number of students willing to take admission in the college and the seat matrix of the college.
There are 200 seats in Pune and about 20 are reserved for EWS candidates.
Going by this trend we can say that you have a good chance of getting into Pune campus in further rounds.
Keep in mind that Pune is one of the most preferred branches of IISER and hence is highly competitive so there might a lower chance of people dropping the seat in Pune.
So, please be prepared to go to IISER Kolkata as well.
