Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. IISER Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in the year 2012. IISER Pune offers courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
IISER Pune offers BS-MS dual degree programme at UG level, Master of Science (MSc) programme at PG level and Integrated PhD (i-PhD) programme, PhD programme, Externally Funded PhD programme and International PhD programme at the doctoral level. IISER Pune admission to BS-MS programmes will be done based on the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). For admission to MSc courses, candidates need to clear IIT-JAM. Students who are admitted to BS-MS dual degrees at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research via the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel are offered a KVPY fellowship of Rs. 5,000. KVPY fellowships are offered as per the KVPY norms. Also, students admitted via JEE Advanced and SCB channels of admissions are offered a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships according to DST INSPIRE scholarship norms. IISER Pune scholarships are KVPY fellowships, INSPIRE, PMRF etc. Candidates who are offered admission to PhD programmes at IISER Pune are entitled to receive PMRF- Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF). IISER Pune admissions are offered to BS-MS dual degrees, MSc, Integrated PhD and PhD programmes. For IISER Pune admission to the BS-MS dual degree course, candidates should apply through IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). In previous years, there were three channels of admission: Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel; Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Advanced); and the State and Central Boards Channel. From this year, candidates will be admitted only through the State and Central Boards Channel wherein they would need to write an IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) for IISER UG admission. For IISER Pune MSc admission, candidates must pass IIT- JAM.
Candidates should take the appropriate entrance examination before applying for the IISER Pune admissions to the desired course. To get IISER Pune admissions to PhD course, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria, take a national-level eligibility test and qualify for the interview. For integrated PhD (i-Ph.D), candidates must qualify for JGEEBILS/ JAM/ JEST/NBHM followed by rounds of interviews. The admission process for IISER Pune is discussed below.

IISER Pune, spread across under acres of land with a good infrastructure and facilities as it includes good classroom a good laboratories with a sports center as well and they were not hostile facilities being available as these all are used and being well maintained.
There is smart classroom with comfortable benches and a projector facility. Wi-Fi facility is provided to the students. Canteen of our college is average and the quality of food is good. The hostel food in good and healthy.
