Candidates are offered Periyar University admission at three different levels: undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral. In total, 97 courses are offered for Periyar University admissions. Candidates must note that there is an entrance examination for Periyar University admissions. The entrance exam is conducted by Periyar University departments and the results will be intimated by the departments concerned to the candidates. • Candidates need to fill out an online application form by visiting the official website of Periyar University.

• The online application form should be filled out properly. 

• Candidates must send the online application form printout (hard copy) along with self-attested copies of the marks statement, Community certificate, Transfer Certificate (SSLC, HSC, and UG), of the qualifying examination and a self–addressed stamped envelope (28cm x 13cm) for Rs.10 should be sent to the respective head of the department, Periyar University.

• Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from a university other than Periyar University should obtain an eligibility certificate from Periyar University Salem.

• Candidates should pay the application fee along with the submission of the Periyar University application form.

• Candidates will be informed about the entrance exam date through mail/SMS and the same shall be posted on the official website of the university- www.periyaruniversity.ac.in. 

• Candidates can download the hall ticket from the university website.

Periyar University PG Admission 2025

The university offers a total of 65 courses at the postgraduate level for Periyar University PG admissions. Admission to postgraduate courses is based on the merit of candidates in qualifying degree and entrance examination scores. For M.B.A., there will be a group discussion and followed by a personal interview. Postgraduate courses offered for admissions are M.A., M.Ed., M.Com, etc.

Periyar University Admission Process for M.B.A and M.C.A

• Candidates must appear in one of the following exams and must obtain valid scores in the same: TANCET/MAT followed by a group discussion and personal interview.

• The final selection will be made based on the candidate’s performance in graduation, entrance exam, group discussion, personal interview, document verification, and payment of the fees.

Periyar University Admission Process for M.Phil

• Aspirants must hold a postgraduate degree with 55% minimum marks to be eligible for admission to M.Phil.

• Aspirants need to fill application form for M.Phil admissions.

• Aspirants need to sit for an entrance examination (written test + interview) conducted by the university.

• Those who have qualified for UGC/CSIR(NET)/SET/GATE examinations and Teacher Fellowship holders are exempted from the entrance test.

• A rank list will be prepared by the university.

• Aspirants who qualified in the NET/SET/GATE examinations will get direct admissions and the remaining candidates are admitted through the entrance test. 

• The written test shall be conducted for 40 marks and an oral interview for 10 marks. The rank list should be prepared based on entrance test (50%) & P.G. marks (50%).

• Document verification and payment of the fees is the last step.

Periyar University Admission Process for Ph.D.

• Candidates must hold a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks to be eligible for Periyar University Ph.D. admissions.

• Candidates need to fill out the application form and pay the application fee.

• Eligible candidates need to sit for an entrance test which includes a written test and oral interview.

• Candidates who must obtain 15 marks in the written test will be called for an oral interview. Therefore, the rank list is prepared on the entrance test (50% marks) and PG (50% marks).

• Candidates who qualify UGC-NET / UGCCSIR (NET) /SET/ GATE / Teacher Fellowship holder/M.Phil. degree will be admitted through a common entrance test conducted at the university level are exempted from the written test but they have to attend the interview.

• Candidates who are awarded a national fellowship under RGNF, INSPIRE by funding organised will get admission in the Ph.D programme at Periyar University irrespective of their scores in the entrance examination.

Interview for Ph.D. admissions at Periyar University is conducted by Department Research Committee.
