The Agricultural College and Research Institute (AC&RI) is one of the constituent college of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore Tamil Nadu holds the pride of the Coimbatore as one of the premier institute for agricultural education. This institute owes its existence to imperialist agriculture that dates back to 1906 and has been a centre for agricultural research as well as education. AC&RI encompasses 30 courses in 5 degree programmes in 678.49 acres with enrolment capacity 985 students and 68 faculty members. Being a co-educational institution it raises gender equality issues in agricultural sciences and equips the students in order to meet new challenges in the field.

Agricultural College and Research Institute has many infrastructural facilities which can be regarded as education facilities that add-value to the education and development of students. It also has a multipurpose play ground for other track events and sports in order to ensure the physical healthiness as well as the spirit of students. An auditorium is dedicated to the academic and cultural activities, and several sections of the library contain thousands of books. There are well-equipped laboratories in the college and each of them is designed for related departments with an aim of providing practical sessions. Well-being is considered important through having a health center within campus and equipped gym. The college uses information technology facilities with 200 computer systems with internet connection to enable students avail themselves with technological advancement in agriculture. 

Agricultural school programmes available at this institute are as diverse as its commitment to agricultural education. The course ranges from Under graduate to Post graduate and Doctorate levels students level that encompasses B.Sc Agriculture (Hons), B.Tech Biotechnology, M.Sc degree programme specialised fields of agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Economics, Agronomy, and Plant Biotechnology among others and Doctor of Philosophy programmes in various specialisations in Agriculture. This broad range of programmes enables learners to go deeper in their fields of specialisation within the agricultural field.
