Al-Azhar Dental College is one of the leading dental college located at Thodupuzha in Kerala and started in the year 2007. This affiliated college has permission from Dental Council of India (DCI), which makes the college credible in terms of education. Located on thirty three and half acres of land, the college guarantees enabling teaching and learning environment. Presently the college has only three course of study leading to the award of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), a full time programme which takes five academic years to complete.

The current infrastructure of the college contains many convenient amenities for student’s academic process and personality development. It boasts of a comprehensive stock of printed and electronic resources in books, the Materials Library, journals, and audio visual aids for teaching, research and consultancy work. For accommodation of students there are available hostel facilities for both boys and girls with in the campus following modality concepts of latest architectural design to facilitate natural lighting and ventilation. The hostels also contain yards for indoor games, television and library facilities. Consequently, the campus has instructional computing labs for specialised instructional support and the labs are well equipped with high-speed internet connectivity for improved resource access and more current resources. 

At present, Al-Azhar Dental College has only the BDS programme, for which the duration of study is 4 years’ full-time. This College has approved an intake capacity of 100 seats for this course and hence it gives proper dental education to the selected candidates only. This type of training it makes it unique and convenient since students receive one on one attention and practical experience something that is essential in dentistry. 

Admission into Al-Azhar Dental College and Hospital is accredited to marks obtained in both the higher secondary examination and the NEET. These two components are given equal weightage in a 50:That is 5:0 ratio for the final selection. Even though the college does accept direct applications its main medium for admission for BDS is through the NEET entrance examination.
