Traditional education, great faculty and high value.

    BA - Batch of 1978-01-01
    3.2

    Academics

I was highly satisfied with the depth of the teaching in my core English and elective Political Science subjects. My professors were very scholarly, encouraging rigorous debate and critical thinking, which I appreciated. The focus was strongly on theoretical knowledge and extensive reading. I feel the education I received provided an excellent, traditional foundation for my future career.

    College Infra

I remember the campus being rather modest, with older, traditional buildings typical of that era. Our classrooms were large and airy, often lacking modern equipment, but completely sufficient for arts lectures. The library was our main resource, and I spent hours there accessing necessary books. I felt the infrastructure was basic but perfectly functional for my Bachelor of Arts studies.

    Campus Life

Campus life was simple and focused primarily on intellectual discussion and co-curricular literary activities. We did not have the complex societies of today, but we had strong departmental bonds. Socializing mainly happened in the local tea stalls outside the gate. I recall a pleasant, no-frills environment centered on academic pursuit.

    Placements

In 1978, college placements were virtually non-existent for Bachelor of Arts graduates; this was never the purpose of the degree. I, like all my friends, had to seek employment or competitive examination preparation entirely independently. I understand that my degree served as a basic requirement for government jobs or civil service examinations. I feel my degree was a fundamental qualification, nothing more.

    Value For Money

I strongly believe the college provided exceptional value for money. The tuition fees were incredibly low, making higher education highly accessible to me and my peers. The quality of the teaching I received, particularly from the seasoned faculty, was outstanding compared to the cost. I think it was the most economically sensible path for a strong liberal arts education.

Provided me a basic standard undergraduate experience.

    B.Sc Chemistry Hons - Batch of 2025-01-01
    3.2

    Academics

The professors in the Chemistry department were genuinely passionate about their specific subjects. I received consistent guidance on difficult theoretical and numerical problems from them. I found the curriculum to be quite robust, adequately preparing me for a Master's degree. They instilled in me a strong sense of scientific inquiry and discipline. I consider the quality of the teaching I received to be a true asset.

    College Infra

The main campus building serves its purpose adequately for me and my needs. I found the Chemistry laboratories to be sufficiently equipped for the basic Honours curriculum. However, I often felt the classroom technology was outdated and inefficient for me. I believe better maintenance of the overall campus would greatly benefit the students. I would describe the infrastructure as perfectly serviceable but uninspiring.

    Campus Life

I found the social environment to be generally friendly and quite active during the major fests. I managed to connect easily with my fellow students in the Chemistry department. I wish the campus had more organized extra-curricular activities beyond just the annual functions for me to participate in. Sometimes I felt the atmosphere was a little too focused solely on academics. It was a pleasant but mostly typical experience for me.

    Placements

Placement drives for core science graduates were virtually nonexistent for me during my time there. I clearly understood that the college's placement focus was mostly on the Commerce or general Arts streams. I had to personally rely on preparing for higher studies entrance examinations. I wish there had been more exposure to industrial career paths for me. I had zero campus placement expectation from this degree.

    Value For Money

I consider the total cost of my three-year degree to be exceptionally low and budget-friendly. I definitely received more teaching quality than I paid for, which is a big win for me. The academic standards are high, especially given the minimal fees I deposited. I firmly believe this college offers one of the most accessible honours degrees. I feel I made a very smart and practical financial decision.

A foundational institution but needs serious improvements.

B.Sc Computer Science Hons - Batch of 2025-01-01
    3

    Academics

The Computer Science faculty were very dedicated and committed to teaching me the core concepts of the curriculum. I feel I received a very strong and reliable theoretical foundation because of their consistent guidance. I was always encouraged by them to ask questions and deepen my technical understanding of subjects. They truly made some of the complex topics approachable and manageable for me. I believe the rigorous curriculum prepared me well for my future.

    College Infra

The facilities were quite standard for me during my tenure there. I felt that the Computer Science laboratories needed a serious technology upgrade. I spent much of my practical time working with rather older machines. The classroom seating arrangements were adequate and I did appreciate the access I had to the college library. Overall, the infrastructure was acceptable but it was not anything that truly amazed me.

    Campus Life

My campus experience was decent and friendly enough, but it was nothing too exciting or overwhelming for me. I was able to connect with my batchmates and establish a few good study groups. I wish there were more diverse activities and dedicated student clubs for me to join. Sometimes the campus felt a little too crowded and unorganized. It was an average atmosphere for me, providing standard social interaction.

    Placements

I must admit that the overall placement scenario was quite disappointing and frustrating for me. There were unfortunately limited opportunities directly relevant to a core Computer Science Honours graduate. Most of the few companies visiting were there for mass recruitment roles only. I sincerely wish the college had focused much more on attracting core technology firms. I had to mostly rely on my own personal efforts for job hunting.

    Value For Money

For me, the fees I paid felt generally justified by the education I was receiving. I do feel that the curriculum delivery was quite strong considering the modest expense. However, I often felt that the older equipment and general lack of infrastructure upkeep slightly lowered the overall value. The affordable fee structure made getting an honours degree accessible to me. I would say it was a reasonable investment, but nothing more than that.
