About Bombay Teachers' Training College, Mumbai

Located in the heart of Mumbai, Maharashtra, Bombay Teachers' Training College was founded in 1969. This co-educational institute is accredited by NAAC and moulds the future of education. BTTC is approved by NCTE, and being a constituent college, it offers a myriad of professional programmes in Education. It occupies a mere 0.72-acre campus with a total student enrolment of 99, supported by a faculty of 9 dedicated teachers. BTTC stands out for its commitment to teacher training, with four different degree programmes all purposed toward educational studies in general.

Students are facilitated through a number of facilities that give the best learning experience. At the centre of these facilities is a well-stocked library that acts as a knowledge centre for the prospective teachers. Amongst its special features are the curriculum laboratory, in-service programme, and teaching aids in science, mathematics, and geography. Bombay Teachers' Training College  is provided with material for experiments and demonstration equipment in all branches of science; by geometrical kits in mathematics; and globes and maps for teaching history and geography. Maharashtra, Bombay Teachers' Training College also has a well-equipped Computer Lab with 25 personal computers, each with headphones. Internet and Wi-Fi connectivity are also available in the lab. This is also used as a language laboratory, where language skills and communication are developed through the Wordsworth English Language learning software. BTTC also provides an auditorium and sports facilities for extra-curricular activities and events. The institution also comprises a canteen, a health centre with first-aid services, and faculty, staff, and student parking spaces.

BTTC offers a well-concentrated choice of four full-time courses in education with professional teacher training at different levels and educational research. Both the B.Ed and D.El.Ed have an intake of 50 students, thereby laying a very strong base for the aspiring teachers. For the advanced educational career builder, the college also offers an M.A. Education programme. At the highest level of academic pursuit, BTTC proposes a Ph.D. in Education programme with 40 seats to foster research and innovation in education.

The Bombay Teacher's Training College admission process varies for various programmes. In the case of B.Ed, the admission procedure is centralised and conducted by the Higher Education Directorate of the Government of Maharashtra, hence making the admission procedure for teachers on par and transparent. The D.El.Ed course also follows a similar centralised admission process with the added proviso that the college can directly admit 10 candidates under its quota. This mix of centralised and institutional admission makes the student profile very heterogeneous. In the case of M.A. Education, admissions are made based on merit, with regard to marks obtained at the qualifying examination, in compliance with state government and university rules. The Ph.D. The education programme may have its own admission criteria, but the same has not been specified. BTTC accepts various entrance exams.
