Affiliated college, Government Degree College, Handwara, was established in the year 1988 and holds its campus in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. This is an institution located in a 13.25 acre and it enrols 5079 students, and it provides a wide list of undergraduate programmes. This college is affiliated with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) the fact that depicts its quality standards. The staff of the college comprises of 6 faculty members offering four courses i.e., Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Computer Applications.

Government Degree College, Handwara, has various amenities that can improve the learning process of the students in college. The library resources include over 8000 books, which form a source of text and reference for the students. In terms of IT, the institution has 60 operational computers with Windows 10, three ICT laboratories are equipped as well. Smart concepts have to do with the teaching facilities that include board, LCD projectors, interactive boards and digital podium where students catch fun while studying. Another important section of the college is the health concerns and to support this there is a health centre with sometimes first aid services. As a cultural point of view, the institution conducts different cultural and sporting activities such as the District Chess Championship among the enthusiastic people interested in it.
