Government Polytechnic Kohima (GPK) was established in the year 1994 as Women’s Polytechnic catering only to girls but was later made co-educational in 2002 in order to accommodate both boys and girls. Government Polytechnic Kohima is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
Government Polytechnic Kohima is governed by the State Council for Technical Education(SCTE), under the Directorate of Technical Education Nagaland. Government Polytechnic Kohima offers full-time diploma courses specialised in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Fashion Technology and Computer Science Engineering. Each Diploma specialisation approved intake is 30.
