Harkamaya College of Education, Gangtok is one of the leading self financed teachers’ training college in Sikkim, India which was started in the year of 2003. Tadong is a co-educational college in Samdur offering education programmes that include B.Ed, M.Ed, and Ph.D. This college is having a compact campus area of 0.12 acres and the college is famous for its high quality education and recognised by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Affiliated to National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Harkamaya College of Education offers sound base education to the fresher’s with aim to be a successful teacher of their respective fields. Student enrolment in this institute is 209 and the faculty strength is 23, with the help of which it has been possible for the institute to be able to provide personal attention as well as the proper environment to the students in order to encourage learning.

This college has various amenities to support the learning provisions to its learners in Harkamaya College of Education. Like any other college, the college has different hostels for boys and for girls to ensure accommodation for the students who come from other states and town. The college library is well stocked with more than 5,636 reference books including 2,283 titles to fit the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. About 16 national and international journals, 525 encyclopedias, 210 e-books, 160 psychological tools, which will be useful in the class are available to the students. It also is well equipped with 6 laboratories with emphasis on Educational Technology, Geography, Bio-Science, and Language Labs. Educational Technology lab especially has all the qualitative equipments needed to support the emerging area of the study at UG & PG levels.

The college offers three full-time courses. Post graduate programs are B.Ed, M.Ed and Ph.D in Education. The B.Ed program is affordative up to 100 and the program duration is two years Whereas M.Ed program is also affordative up to 50 seats and the program period is two years.

As for the admission procedure in Harkamaya College of Education students are selected through merit score in the entrance examination and or overall aggregate performance.
