Yah. All good but College life is all about surviving.

There is no any type of placement type of course like engeneering.but as per previous year result the students got selected in IITs,IISER,IIST and many more well known institute for further studies.so yes from the view of research in future it helps to go through your right path and guide you.

I have no idea about the placement of my college on a first hand basis as I am a second year student at your college. Although, I heard that almost, 45-50% of the students gets placements depending on their CGPA.
