Nowgong Girls College, Nagaon, established in 1959, is a premiere educational institution located at Haibargaon, Nagaon, Assam, of women. Affiliated with the University which is recognised by the University Grant Commission (UGC) NAAC and spread over 4.3 acres of the campus, this college fulfils the conditions of affiliation. This college has 66 faculty members.

The college has various facilities to ensure the student can obtain an education and grow up as children. The Mahesh Chandra Dev Goswami Library is a treasure trove of knowledge, containing 46,000 reading materials made up of textbooks, reference books, and digital resources. Nowgong Girls College has an independent two-storied building, uses in-house developed library software, and has provided e-resources through UGC, Infonet, and N-List of INFLIBNET. The college has taken the effort of keeping three hostels under it – Padmawati Devi Phooknani Hostel, Swahid Bhogeswari Phookanani Hostel, and a new RCC Hostel that can accommodate a total of 207 students. Wi-Fi in the campus aids in digital learning and connectivity.

Nowgong Girls College is also one endowed with diversity in the courses taught. It has 26 courses among them and full-time courses for UG and PG degrees. BA. This can have 500 students intaking every year is one of the flagship courses. Undergraduate programmes include B.Sc programmes, each having 100 seats. The college has introduced certain innovative Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) programmes in Computer Applications, Geo Informatics, Mass Communication, and Journalism, Modern Farming Technology and Nursery Management, with 15 seats each. The college provides MA courses in Assamese and Geography at the postgraduate level.

The admission process at Nowgong Girls College relies on the merit of the candidate. Adherence to the policy of the government in regards to seat reservation is also under consideration here. Reservation is also granted to social categories based on the government procedures.
