A college that provides accommodating education to the needy students, Oriental College Imphal started in 1963 is situated at Khuraijam Leikai, Takyel, Imphal West, Manipur. NAAC accredited college with multiple courses in different fields and specialisation being offered at the undergraduate level. Oriental College is functioning from a campus area of 7.5 acres and has a total student strength of 1330 and a faculty strength of 73. The institute offers 20 courses under five degrees Fashion Institute offers courses in Arts & Science. At the college level, the gender distribution is fairly close – with 52% male students and 48% females, although the principal stated that the college targets students within the state.

Additional facilities provided at Oriental College include variety of services easing student’s everyday life. The students accommodate in different separate hostels for boys and girls with maximum strength of 24 and 36 respectively. Sports lovers will find benefits in a large playground for outdoor games, an indoor hall for games such as badminton and tennis and a well equipped modern swimming pool. The college also hosts a well endowed gymnasium. For the academic need there is central library that holds large number of books and journals and e-journals along with departmental library. The components of the IT Factor are a computer learning center and wireless networking available across the campus. Other facilities comprise a canteen service, health facility for first aide and departmental laboratories for skills builds.

The above show that the college provides 20 courses and that all of them are full time. These are Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science and their different disciplines which are many. The institute also offers Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) programmes in Information Technology, Fashion Technology, Fisheries, Tourism and Hospitality. The college has an overall approved intake of one thousand, three hundred and thirty for all programmes and courses demonstrating the college’s noble endeavour of offering quality education to as many students as possible in the region.

Presently, Oriental College also expands its admittance policy based on the score gotten and received through entrance examination. For admission to BA. and B.Sc. courses, the selection is made strictly, on the basis of the merit in the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur or any other recognised Board of Examination for admission to the Manipur University. The college may also undergo entrance tests when the need arise as in other colleges. The academic year is generally in accordance with Manipur University calendar but may differ in respect of admission and examinations.
