Introduction. SVCR Government Degree College, Chittoor, established in 1983, is located in Palamaner, Andhra Pradesh. The college is a co-educational institution and is affiliated with Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. It is duly recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The college is spread over 10 acres and offers a total of 889 student-enrolled diversified courses in 9 degree programmes. The response of students was good - the gender distribution being in the ratio of 3:1, with 594 male and 245 female students, which is about fair representation compared to other colleges. Having a faculty strength of 17, the college continues to provide quality education in the distinct fields of sciences, commerce, and arts. It has many facilities to serve its educational cause. 

The library has a stock of 15,000 books, and there are departmental libraries with current reference materials. For meaningful learning, the college has well-equipped laboratories pertaining to Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Computer Science in compliance with the norms laid down by Sri Venkateswara University and the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. SVCR Government Degree College also houses a Jawahar Knowledge Centre that facilitates better reach for students with respect to knowledge and information. There exist facilities for sports and gymnasium for the sports and fitness enthusiasts. Also, a seminar hall, well-equipped with the facilities of an LCD and a TV to telecast MANA-TV programmes with a capacity of about 150 students, is available for academic discussions and events. 

SVCR Government Degree College, a complete range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes is available. There are 22 courses offered by the college. Full-time programmes are provided in the college. The total student intake of all courses combined comes up to 889, which shows the institution's commitment to providing quality education to a fair number of students. Some of the popular courses are B.Com Computer Applications with an intake of 160, B.Com Hons with an intake of 60, and B.Sc Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with a capacity of 30 each in different combinations. It also offers some unique vocational courses, such as B.Voc in Dairying and Animal Husbandry, and another in Horticulture, with 50 and 50 seats, respectively, to cater to the agricultural needs of the entire region. 

Admission in SVCR Government Degree College is open to all candidates, and the admission process is based upon merit only. The college accepts different entrance examinations.
