Tawi Polytechnic, Shahpur Kandi, was started in 2012 and it is an affiliated college situated in Pathankot, Punjab. This is an AICTE approved institution offering its diploma programmes in different fields of engineering. Tawi Polytechnic is located at a very small area of 5.98 acres with an amalgamate total admission capacity of 195 students and the faculty comprises of 6 members. The institute offers 5 diploma courses in different specialisations, and totally, all diploma courses offered are full time ones. First, Tawi Polytechnic’s purpose is to provide technical education to students with overall goal of producing professional engineers in the respective field of specialisation.

Tawi Polytechnic includes several facilities that will help to improve the learning and personal processes of students. The campus comprises distinct hostels; for boys as well as girls; this makes out-of-town students to live in conducive and safe facilities. These hostels have provisions of functional facilities like centre for activities, gymnasium and for common use like reading, dining etc. The college library acts as the source of information where all textbook, reference books, and journal for the offered college courses are found. At the moment Tawi Polytechnic provides the student with five diploma courses all of which are carried out during the day. It has strength of 242 students in all its courses, the total student intake for all courses offered at the institute levels is 195. These diploma courses focus on numerous specialisations in engineering; Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering etc. thus, students can acquire the degree in engineering depending on their passion and goals in life. These courses are intended to ensure students get adequate knowledge and skills necessary for jobs in the industry or advance to higher levels to study engineering fully.

The entrance system of the Tawi Polytechnic entails counselling in which either the exam mark or the mark in the qualifying examination is considered.
