Thiruvalluvar College of Engineering and Technology is a private engineering college situated at Vandavasi of the Tamil Nadu state in India. It was started in 1998. This affiliated college with the AICTE provides a wide spectrum of engineering and technology courses. The effective teaching area of TCET is spread over 34 acres of land under construction. TCET has 1,447 student enrolments and 183 total faculty members. The institute has an adequately proportionate ratio of males and females; males are 65% and females are 35%, and the facility of undergraduate as well as postgraduate level in different fields of engineering is available.

TCET is also functioning towards its goal of equipping students with modern facilities to support their learning process. The campus has good hostels for the boys and girls’ students with a capacity of more than one thousand five hundred students. A complete operating health facility with a permanent doctor in the college guarantees the university population’s well-being. Fitness lovers have the opportunity to get to the gym on campus because the university provides this service to students and teachers. 

The central library, spanning 7,500 sq. ft., houses over 75,000 books, numerous journals, and a vast collection of digital resources, remaining accessible from 8:00 AM to midnight. Sports facilities of the university include open cricket, football, and volleyball fields and other indoor games. IT facilities in the college are well developed, having 3 servers, 20 workstations, a thousand desktops, and a wireless network facility with WiFi service to facilitate the internet connection round the clock.

Overall, TCET provides 19 courses at four levels of degree programmes. The institute offers 11 B.Tech courses, 6 ME courses, and MBA. & M.C.A. courses as full-time programmes. The total approved intake for all courses is one thousand, four hundred and forty-seven students. There are various B.Tech specialisations that are offered with Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Technology, offering a total of 90+68 students, respectively. The college also provides courses in Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, and a new course called Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Admission to TCET is generally done on a merit basis only, except for those courses that have sought after professional institutes. Students seeking admission for B.Tech programmes need to appear for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling, in which admission is given on the basis of the marks in the 10+2 examination and TANCET score. In the case of postgraduate programmes like MCA TANCET, scores are taken into consideration. 

The institute also acknowledges CEETA-PG scores for several courses offered in the institute as well as in some universities in Pakistan. To the researcher’s knowledge, TCET offers a wide range of scholarships to deserving and exceptional students, but these offers have not been disclosed. The college is held with a good industrial interface and has been paring many talented alumni’s in the hospitality of engineering and technology.
