Vasantrao Naik Government Institute of Arts and Social Sciences, Nagpur, is one of the proud premier institutions established very long ago, in 1885. The college is situated in the centre of Nagpur, Maharashtra, and is affiliated with a mark of excellence in arts and social science education. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited this institute for providing quality education. The campus is spread over 18.4 acres, offering a wide range of 14 courses at the 2 degree levels.
Vasantrao Naik Government Institute of Arts and Social Sciences is proud to provide all facilities for the students of this institute to make the learning process meaningful. The library, one of the important hubs of knowledge, is located in a separate building with the specialty of three sections. It can boast a stock of more than 70,266 books, comprising references, textbooks, literature, and rare publications. Library includes 46 national and international research journals and periodicals, along with 12 newspapers in three different languages. There are also physical fitness facilities with a gym and sports ground. Besides, IT-infrastructure guarantees the students always to be in touch with modern technologies with Wi-Fi spread within its campus. The institute also has an auditorium for events and seminars, refreshment facilities in the cafeteria, and laboratories equipped for practical learning. Both boys and girls have the facility to obtain hostels for a comfortable stay.
The institute will provide courses from arts to social sciences. There are 14 different courses constituting undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes. The flagship undergraduate programme from the college is the Bachelor of Arts. At the postgraduate level, it offers various programmes in the disciplines of Economics, Marathi, English, Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Political Science, History, Music, Home Economics, Geography, and Philosophy.
