The College was established in 2005 at Khordha and known as VISWASS College of Nursing, situated at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It is a co-educational affiliated college, endorsed by INC for offering numbers of nursing courses at different specialisations. VISWASS College of Nursing is located across 40 acres of area and it has total intake capacity of 334 students, including faculty members of 11. The college offers 8 courses at three levels of study: baccalaureate, post-basic Baccalaureate, and Masters degree in nursing to produce well-equipped healthcare professionals.

In this regard, the college has set a pace in ensuring that students get a favourable environment to learn from. They include a wide selection of learning amenities designed to support the education of the learners. There are separate hostels equipped with the necessary furniture and facilities for boys and girls who are enrolled in and/or studying on the campus with 24-hour security services. A large reference section in the form of a library supports learners with appropriate literature in nursing and other linked disciplines. The college also operates a health centre that has first aid services to ensure all students are healthy. To ensure compliance with modern technology, computer facilities and IT classes are available in VISWASS College of Nursing The college provides computer training to its students, purposefully trained by IT experts.

VISWASS College of Nursing provides a plethora of nursing courses. The college offers eight courses, which encompass full-time courses such as B.Sc. Nursing, Post-B.Sc. Nursing, GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery) and many more M.Sc. Nursing specialisations. For all the courses, the intake approved by the university is 334. The B.Sc Nursing and GNM programmes have 60 seats; 50 seats are available in the Post Basic B.Sc Nursing programme. The M.Sc. Nursing specialisations of Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, and Psychiatric Nursing have an intake capacity of 7 students per course. Admission procedure of VISWASS College of Nursing is entirely merit-competitive to ensure equal chance for all applicants. In cases of the need to fill up the reserved seat positions for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and GNM, merit lists are used. 

For this, VISWASS College of Nursing is established as a premier nursing institute in the state of Odisha.
