A Ph.D. in Mathematics at School of Basic and Applied Sciences (SBAS) is available to students who have shown mastery of the subject of Mathematics. It involves a training programme that involves advanced courses, research on a specialized area, and thesis defense on completion of coursework. Students are required to take some classes in other disciplines to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the topic at hand.

Mangalam University after a student has completed extensive coursework in the field of mathematics, submitted a dissertation that makes an original contribution to knowledge, and successfully defended it before examiners who are experts in their field. A Ph.D. programme will take at least four years to complete, possibly longer depending on how much leave time the student takes or whether or not he or she attends full-time status.The Ph.D. programme caters to the following categories of students
