D Y Patil Dental School extends four courses in dentistry among which one is an undergraduate program in dentistry, namely BDS, and the rest three are postgraduate specialisations in MDS. The Bachelor of Dental Surgery program enrols 100 seats, and 3, 3, and 2 seats are offered for the MDS programs in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics; Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics; and Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, respectively.

The admission procedure in D Y Patil Dental College is a merit-based admission process followed in the colleges with the permission of the respective regulatory authority. Admission into the degree program of BDS is done on the ground of the marks secured by the candidate in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). That is, for both the MDS programs, they must clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS). Both these national-level exams are conducted so that the selection process is conducted uniformly and justly.
