The Indira Gandhi Government Dental College and hospital at Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir was established in the year 2004 DIGITAL LIBRARY DESTINY DSpace @ IGAP:igapadmin The IG Dental College and Hospital is well equipped with all the modern amenities and technologies. This is a Government run co-educational institution recognized under University of Jammu and accredited by the Dental Council of India (DCI). Located on a vast area of 11 acres, the college is currently providing different dental courses at the bachelor’s and master’s degree levels. The total admission capacity of the institute is 141 students out of which it has 60 faculty members and the ratio proves that the institute pays equal attention to every student in order to provide the best education possible.

A whole range of modern amenities is available to assist its academic and clinical courses in the college. Students have easy access to quality boys and girls hostels, which offer Además comforts to the students. The facility of the campus comprises health center, first-aid kit, library and other sports facilities. IT Infrastructure of the institute is especially remarkable; it has got 50 MBPS Internet Leased Line through WiFi & Wireless Facility. This connection makes it possible for the students, faculty, and staffs to browse dental references, databases, and worldwide sources of dental education. The college also focuses on enhanced learning amenities with boarded, A/C equipped faculty and computerized teaching aids, computer-internet comps and LCD proys, audio visual gadgets. In addition to using IntelliSpace software and smart boards in classrooms also improves the teaching and learning experience.

This college offers in total 8 courses out of which are on two degrees’ levels – undergraduate and postgraduate. The BDS program is the most fundamental program in the field of dentistry and 63 students are offered the program. These Master’s degree in Dental Surgery programs consist of important fields of dentistry including Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Periodontology, Oral and maxillofacial Surgery, Oral pathology and microbiology, Paediatric dentistry and preventive dentistry, Conservative dentistry and endodontics, and Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics.
