Mar Baselios Dental College originated in 2002 as a modern dental college in Thangalam, Kothamangalam of kerala state. This affiliated college which is recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI), provides numerous dental courses on undergraduate and postgraduate level. Located on a large seven acre complex, MBDC has 70 committed staff and faculty members. It is admitted that at the moment, the college provides learners with 9 courses at two degrees promoting diverse aspects of dental sciences. Presently there are 349 total students at MBDC where 86% students are under graduate and 14% are Post graduate students, this university has an appropriate ratio of female student which are 84%.

Mar Baselios Dental College is well equipped with all facilities that are neccessary for the students to make their learning environment proper for learning. It plays the role of an information centre offering its patrons opportunities to read various types of knowledge in the sphere of dentistry. The fully air condition IT facilities enables students to be in tune with latest technology used in the dental field. It is worth mentioning that MBDC is equipped with well developed laboratories that are of great help for the practical workshops related to the dental sciences. The college also has hostels for both boys and girls with a generic capacity of 540 students enhancing the college calendar. As a measure of ensuring that students at MBDC remain healthy in all ways, there are medical facilities to cater to the needs of all students that is a medical officer is on campus to attend to students’ health concerns.

Currently the college entail offers all forms of dental courses and they have one under part (BDS) and eight post (MDS) courses in various fields of specialisation. The BDS programme is offered through 60 seats annually while the MDS programmes provides 2-3 seats each in the choices such as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Periodontology and Orthodontics and so on. All courses are day time only so that courses offer intense and concentrated study in dentistry. With its concern for delivering quality education, the college is today offering a relatively young curriculum and practical experience training oriented.

Admission to Mar Baselios Dental College is done based on the merit of the students and is organised. For the BDS programme the admissions are based on NEET and major criterion for admission in this test. Likewise, for postgraduate courses, tests conducted by the National Board of Examination replaces eligibility criteria; specifically NEET MDS. These examinations at the national level guarantee that the college enlists for talented students all over the country. The college also provides learners with scholarships and any deserving learner would be awarded one. The faculty offers financial assistance to 44 undergraduate students and 8 postgraduate students during the academic year 2022 to ensure that students achieve good educational quality for the faculty’s dental programmes.
