The Sri Lakshmi Ammal Engineering College, generally abbreviated as SLAEC, was established in the year 2001 and is a premier institution located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college has been preparing the future of young engineers for more than twenty years. Located in Kancheepuram District of Tamil Nadu, SLAEC has an elastic combination of engineering programmes as undergraduate as well as postgraduate degrees. The enrolment includes a total of 452 students, 351 males and 101 females, enabling the college to have a specialised learning atmosphere. The quality of educational services that SLAEC provides is shown by the fact that it offers 8 courses in 2 levels of degree throughout the engineering specialisation.

Sri Lakshmi Ammal Engineering College has facilities that help to supplement the learning process of the students in the college. For those who feel like they need to tone up, the college provides a good facility of a gym for fitness lovers. Thus, the institution continues the development of students’ integrated personnel development and provides its students with a sports complex that will allow following the schedule and added sections. Fundamentally, any setup of academic resources contains a library that acts as the institution’s source of information for students and professors. A good example of the college’s emphasis on pragmatic knowledge is the highly stocked and departmentalised facilities laboratory. In view of this dynamic evolution of technologies, SLAEC has been able to invest in excellent IT facilities. Presently, SLAEC has developed eight courses of study, of which two are at the postgraduate level The institute offers four undergraduate courses and one postgraduate course in the field of engineering: SLAEC provides four undergraduate turbine courses and one postgraduate turbine course. The undergraduate programmes are Bachelor of Engineering (BE) Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. These are full-time courses that take four years to complete and give a sound base for the essential engineering skills. Currently, at the postgraduate level, the college offers Masters of Engineering (ME) in Power Electronics and Drive, Computer Science and Engineering and Applied Electronics. These are two-year full-time courses for students who seek further qualification in their chosen disciplines. All the courses offered at SLAEC are full-time, as part of the institution’s commitment to full-time focused learning environment. The college has 452 total intake capacity and this avoids compromising the quality of education delivered as well as utilisation of resource fully.

The admission procedure of Sri Lakshmi Ammal Engineering College is intended to be just and full-proof. For undergraduate programme the college admits the students through TNEA counselling for engineering programmes. The aspiring students need to clear TANCET or JEE Main entrance examination in terms of eligibility criteria. For postgraduate admission, the college has determined common entrance examinations, variously referred to as the Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission, or CEETA-PG. This exam acts as a doorway for all those students willing to graduate for their master’s degree at SLAEC.
