Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The university has three hostels located on a residential campus aside from staff quarters, one for boys. Adequate hostel accommodation is available for the existing students. The hostel provides quality living in a homely atmosphere, it is a home away from home for students from all parts of the country. All the rooms are allotted on Sharing Basis. The hostel has its own mess providing hygienic and nutritious meals a day.

The university has three hostels located on a residential campus aside from staff quarters, two for girls. Adequate hostel accommodation is available for the existing students. The girls’ hostel was designed by the famous architect and urban planner Christopher Charles Benninger during 1996-1998. The hostel provides quality living in a homely atmosphere, it is a home away from home for students from all parts of the country. All the rooms are allotted on Sharing Basis. The hostel has its own mess providing hygienic and nutritious meals a day.

The university has Library Posses about 2.80 Lakh collections of books and periodicals on the 3-floor library building Ground Floor has a core collection of economics, reference material, M.Sc. textbooks, etc. The First Floor has bound volumes and loose latest periodicals. The bound back volumes are more than 2000 periodical titles. The second Floor possesses an almost unbroken series of proceedings of both Union and State legislation in India. A large collection of reports of commissions and committees appointed by Govt. of India, the UK, and the US, etc. The third floor contains History, Geography, Politics, Social Science, Computer Science, etc. Basement Floor possesses a depository collection of UN, the European Country, International Court of justice, International Monetary fund, and World Bank reports, etc.

The university has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. This lab is a multi-purpose technology and collaborative workspace. The lab is dedicated to meeting the teaching, learning, and research needs of the faculty, staff, and students Additionally, the Research Commons is equipped with more than 40 PCs.

The university has sports facilities for all students.

The university has good networking for the alumni association.

The university has one well-equipped with all the modern facilities and a fully air-conditioned seminar hall with a seating capacity of 70 people. In addition, a separate Conference room with a seating capacity of 20 persons is available for conducting meetings. And also there is an Auditorium Kale Hall 300 seating capacity is available for organizing large conferences and workshops. The seminar hall, as well as the Kale Hall, witnessed several seminars and talks in which outsiders came and participated. Some of the names which immediately come to our mind are Leontief, Amartya Sen, and Joan Robinson who became Noble laureates in course of time.

The University Residential campus has a well-furnished Guest House(12 Rooms) The Guesthouse is primarily meant for official guests of the Institute/participants of Seminars/ Workshops/ Conferences etc., organized by the Institute/Departments as well as those sponsored by the Government and the UGC.

The university has a canteen facility for staff and students.

The university has a health center with a first aid facility for students.

The university has a Gym facility for the students.

The university has classrooms are modernized and equipped with state-of-the-art desks, seating, and teaching assistance products. They have the facility to record the instructor and the board and conduct in-person and virtual classes at the same time. We aim to teach in the most effective way possible, and in a fun environment.
