About NIT Meghalaya
National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya) was established in 2008. NIT Meghalaya is one among the 31 NITs in India established under the NIT Act 2007 (Amended 2012) of the Parliament of India as Institutes of National Importance. NIT Meghalaya offers various courses in the field of engineering and technology at UG, PG and doctoral levels.

Admission to B.Tech is based on candidates' JEE Main scores and joint seat allocations made by JoSSA/CSAB. Admission to NIT Meghalaya M.Tech programmes is based on a valid GATE score, followed by CCMT counselling. To be admitted to M.Sc courses in NIT Meghalaya, candidates must have a valid JAM score and participate in centralised CCMN counselling.
The NIT Meghalaya conducts a written exam and an interview for admission to PhD programmes. NIT Meghalaya scholarships are awarded to the deserving undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D students. The students must fulfil the eligibility criteria to avail of the scholarships offered by the university. Students may apply for NIT Meghalaya scholarships offered through various schemes of the State and National Government. Students must note that they can only take advantage of one scholarship from one source. The university will reject the scholarship application if the student avails of a scholarship and applies for another one. Our college infrastructure was more than adequate, and we had all the facilities we needed on campus, including computer labs, a workshop, and a library. The hostel was very nice, with good maintenance, and each room had only two occupants. We enjoyed our B.Tech days very much.

The choice of joining NIT Meghalaya is completely upto what you are interested in and what your comfort zone is.
There are a few factors to consider.

NIT Meghalaya is a newer NIT as compared to most of the other NITs. It was established in 2010, in Shillong. Students often complain about its not-so-good infrastructure and location/transport problem because of the current temporary campus. However, its permanent campus is under development in Cherrapunji.
