Government Medical College, The Nilgiris was founded in year 2021. This is an affiliated college co-educational institution that is located in Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu, NMC approved. The college which is located at Indunagar Mysore Road currently have only one course that is the MBBS course. It is therefore, founded to help respond to the increasing demand for quality educational institutions focusing on medical education.

There are several amenities in the Government Medical College, some of which are described below to support the students’ academic endeavours. The library holds medical Literature and Research materials where students are able to read wide and from medical literature and books. Teaching in departmental laboratories is the one where students are given opportunity to use practical sessions after learning on the theory. The college had sought an approval to admit 100 students for the MBBS course every academic year as a way of maintaining a good student-staff ratio for efficient learning. Although there is not specific information for the number of graduates associated due to the relative young age of the college, the college has a potential and promised to produce significant number of qualified health care workforce in the coming future years.

The detailed admission procedure of The Nilgiris Government Medical College to a large extent depends on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). It is a national level examination through which students wishing to pursue MBBS in any part of India can get admission. Here, for instance, admission is only given to those who have cleared NEET with the required cut off marks as can be observed below. The college understands the fresh central counselling process in accordance with the state government and National Medical Commission. Admission does not occur daily; somehow they align with the NEET exam and counseling, and this may change from time to time.
