Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering is a four-year (8 Semesters) full-time undergraduate program offered by National Institute of Technology Silchar.

The undergraduate program in Computer Science and Engineering started with the admission of its first batch of B.E. students in the year 1987. It was then under the Department of Electrical Engineering from which it along with the undergraduate program in Electronics and Communication Engineering got separated under the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in the year 2000. From the year 2000 till 2008 the department was under the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. In the year 2008 the Department of Computer Science and Engineering became an independent department.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12 th /qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main). The candidates who have taken four subjects are not permitted to write JEE (Main) and if such candidates appear in JEE (Main) by furnishing wrong information, their rank/result will not be declared.

Admission Details

Admissions to the first semester of all Undergraduate courses are made on the basis of seats allocated by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) from the list of candidates selected by all India JEE (Main). Besides, a specified number of foreign nationals/NRIs selected under the policy laid down by Govt. of India, are admitted directly to the 1^st year of the courses.

College Infrastructure

Infrastructure of the campus is very good in academic buildings, admin building, and central library. But in hostels the infrastructure is not good. There are many sports facilities available there is a sports complex and a student activity centre available. It has enough equipment.

College Infrastructure

The campus of NITS is full of greenery and clean.It has numerous lake . The classrooms has projectors and laboratories are well equipped and maintained. We have all the basic sports facilities in the college.

College Infrastructure

NIT Silchar has all the necessary infrastructure , facilities and equipment that are required for any national level college. Although some equipments are missing but overall it never feels to not have those equipments.Classes are open and have a good ventilation. Also food is not that hygienic , not as your home food but decent hygiene is maintained throughout campus.Some hostels has better food compared to other but it totally depends on your hostel.Note that your hostel will change yearly.
