Tamil Nadu National Law University offers admission to full-time undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. TNNLU admission to the B.Com and BA LLB Hons is done based on the candidate’s performance in the CLAT UG entrance exam, followed by the counselling process. 

For Tamil Nadu National Law University admission to the LLM programme, candidates must appear for the CLAT PG entrance exam and meet the cutoff of TNNLU, followed by the CLAT counselling process. TNNLU PhD admission is done based on the marks obtained by candidates in the entrance test, followed by an interview conducted by the university.

Tamil Nadu National Law University offers two undergraduate programmes. TNNLU UG courses include B.Com and BA LLB Hons. The TNNLU Trichy courses duration of the UG programmes is 5 years.

• Candidates are required to meet the TNNLU eligibility criteria to be admitted to UG-level courses.

• Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria must register and sit for the CLAT UG entrance exam.

• Candidates who satisfy the CLAT cutoff are required to participate in the CLAT counselling process.

• NLU Trichy admissions are granted based on the candidate’s scores obtained in the CLAT examination.

• Final admission is confirmed after document verification and payment of the TNNLU admission fee.

Tamil Nadu National Law University offers three postgraduate programmes. The TNNLU PG courses offered are LLM Corporate and Securities Law, LLM Intellectual Property Law and LLM Natural Resources Law. The course duration of the LLM programme is 1 year.

• First, candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria for TNNLU PG admission.

• Candidates must register and apply for the CLAT PG entrance exam.

• After the CLAT PG results are announced, a cutoff is determined.

• Candidates who meet or exceed the CLAT cutoff are invited to participate in the CLAT counselling process.

• NLU Trichy admissions are granted based solely on the scores obtained in the CLAT PG.

• Final admission is confirmed after document verification and payment of the TNNLU admission fee.

Tamil Nadu National Law University provides a PhD programme - PhD Law. The course duration of the NLU Trichy PhD course is 6 years.

NLU Trichy PhD Admission Process

• Candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria for taking TNNLU PhD admission. 

• Complete the application form and submit it along with the research proposal/synopsis of the research topic to the TNNLU registrar, following the prescribed format and payment of the required fees.

• Candidates must participate in the entrance test conducted by the university.

• Candidates who pass the entrance test are invited for an interview.

• During the interview, candidates are required to present their research proposal to the Doctoral Council.

• Shortlisting of candidates for NLU Trichy admissions is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam and performance in the interview.

• The university announces the list of applicants and selected candidates for Ph.D. Law admission for each academic year.

• The final step involves document verification and payment of the TNNLU admission fee.
