IIT Delhi New Academic Reforms: AI, Flexibility, and Industry Collaboration

From 2025, IIT Delhi will launch a revamped curriculum that prioritises artificial intelligence, hands-on learning, and flexibility in IIT Delhi course selection. Adding a capstone project will provide students with opportunities to apply theoretical lessons to practical challenges.

Class sizes will be reduced from 300–400 to about 150 in the first semester, with further reductions to 30 in the second semester to allow personalised learning. The institute has also established two new centres of excellence, including one in partnership with Hyundai, IIT Madras, and IIT Bombay, focusing on sustainability and advanced research.

IIT Delhi Mental Health Support and Student Welfare Initiatives

IIT Delhi is increasing its support for student mental health, with around-the-clock access to 14 full-time counsellors, over 25 wellness camps, and many yoga and meditation sessions. Department level sensitisation campaigns are also being conducted to develop a more inclusive environment.

After many years of only serving undergraduates, the IIT Delhi buddy programme now includes postgraduate and international students to facilitate better adaptation to their university experience. IIT Delhi has also implemented a QR-based attendance system for several hostels to measure students' attendance. This system largely serves to identify students who might require assistance, enabling welfare interventions to take place in a more timely way.
