Admission to this institute is offered for 37 courses in total. IIT Madras B.Tech course is offered in multiple disciplines and the number of seats reserved for each course differs. The seats in different B. Tech courses range from 42 to 215.

IIT Madras UG Admission Process

• Aspiring students need to enrol and appear for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. 

• Students must acquire an All India Rank (AIR) for counselling invitations.

• Students must register for the Joint Seat Allocation counselling process (JoSAA).

• During counselling, students must select IIT Madras as the institution of choice. 

• After selection, students must visit the institute to collect the provisional letter of admission.

• Final IIT Madras admission will be offered after document verification and IIT Madras fee payment.

Admissions to IIT Madras PG courses are offered to students who fulfil the eligibility criteria for the course they wish to get admitted in. The university offers admission to 58 PG courses. The fee for IIT Madras M.Tech courses is Rs. 22,400.

IIT Madras M.Sc. Admission Process 2025

• Eligible candidates should enrol and appear for the JAM test.

• Secure the desired JAM score in the All India Rank List according to the cut-off.

• Candidate should attend JAM counselling.

• There are three rounds of admission.

  • First-round will be declared by the organising Institute and conducted in June. Each student is offered admission with the option.

  • The second round of admissions is conducted for the remaining vacant seats in July. 

  • The third round of admission is the final round for seats available.

• Candidates will be shortlisted for IIT Madras admissions based on the scores obtained in the entrance examination.

• The selected candidates will be notified.

• Selected candidates should submit the required documents.

• To complete the IIT Madras admission process the candidates should pay the admission fee.

IIT Madras M.Tech Admission Process 2025

• Candidates seeking admission will have to apply through the official website of the university. 

• While filling out the application, candidates must attach all the necessary documents and pay the IIT Madras application fee. 

• Students must have secured valid marks in GATE.

• The cutoff and date of the interview will be released by the institute itself. 

• All M.Tech. Admission offers (through GATE) will be displayed on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Candidates must register at the COAP portal to view and accept their offers. 

• After the interviews and after the students have made their final choice, admission letters will be handed out to the final selected candidates.

IIT Madras MBA Admission Process

• Candidates willing to take the IIT Madras MBA course must Appear for the CAT

• After securing a valid CAT score, students need to appear for CAP and the counselling process.

• Shortlisting of candidates is done for IIT Madras admissions based on the students taking the CAT scores and the counselling process into consideration. 

• Selected candidates will be notified through the registered mobile ID/phone number.

• Final selected candidates must submit the required documents along with the IIT Madras admission fee. 

At the doctoral level, IIT Madras offers Ph.D courses across 15 specialisations. IIT Madras doctoral courses are offered for a period of 5 years.

• Students seeking admission must apply by filling out the online application form available on the official website of the institute. 

• While filling out the application, applicants must upload all the required documents and pay the IIT Madras fee.

• Eligible candidates will be called for a written test followed by a round of interviews.

• However, if a candidate has an excellent academic record and meritorious scores in their previous examinations, the test requirement may be waived.

• Final selection will be made based on the performance of students in the interview.
