CIT Kokrajhar Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

Even though all the hostel buildings on the campus are not ready, the Institute has arranged rented houses and maintained separate hostels for boys in different parts of Kokrajhar town apart from two hostels on the Campus. At present, there are 12 hostels for boys. With the opening of first-year degree classes and the constraints faced by the students especially the outstation students to find accommodation in the town, the Institute is making arrangements for opening more hostels for boys.

At present, there are 4 hostels for girls with a total intake capacity of 157 girls respectively. With the opening of first-year degree classes and the constraints faced by the students especially the outstation students to find accommodation in the town, the Institute is making arrangements for opening more hostels for girls.

The library is the liveliest place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge and promotes discovery and scholarship. The mission of the Library is to facilitate the creation of new knowledge through the acquisition, organization, and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing value-added services. At present, the library has a collection of more than 111545 Physical books and 288256 subscribed e-Resources like E-Books, E-Journals, E-magazines CDs, standards, proceedings, videos, and E-Magazines. It also subscribes to important daily newspapers and 2084 magazines. The library has subscribed IEEE (IEL-Online Level -II), five Subject Collection Science Direct with Complimentary Access to Food Engineering Books, ASME, ASCE, ACM, Springer, Taylor & Francis, GALE E-library, Pearson, IET(both ebooks & videos), SAGE, WILEY for accessing E-Journals, E-Books, Videos, standards, conference proceedings, reference works and e-magazines. Central Library also subscribes to SCOPUS for abstract and citation databases of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings. It also delivers a comprehensive overview of the world's research output in the fields of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities, Scopus features smart tools to track, analyze and visualize research.

The University has two central computer centers with more than two hundred and fifty nodes with the latest Operating Systems and applications software. The computer centers are connected with wired and wireless LAN and have NKN connectivity (1 Gbps) for internet access. In addition to this, departments like ECE, IT, CSE, and AMT have individual computer laboratories with internet access for conducting simulation and design-based practical classes.

The University has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. The Institute has two well-equipped seminar halls to organize seminars, workshops, conferences, and interactive programs which have a capacity of 100 audiences each. 

The University provides transport facilities for the students and the staff. At present the institute has four buses which fly at regular intervals from 8.30 am in the morning till 6.00 pm in the evening from different parts of Kokrajhar town where our hostels are located to the institute campus. Buses are also provided to take students to different places for industrial training, laboratory classes, picnics, etc. outside Kokrajhar whenever required.

The University has well-established laboratories in all the departments as per the requirements of Diploma, Undergraduate, and Post-Graduate Programmes. All the laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure with modern facilities including an uninterrupted power supply and internet facilities to create an amicable atmosphere for laboratory classes and R&D activities. The Institute places due emphasis on designing the laboratory classes on the concepts taught in the theory classes. The Institute is committed to providing the best experimental practices to all the students under the expert guidance of faculty members and laboratory staff. Every year, the Institute gives due importance to upgrading its existing laboratory facilities with the latest equipment and software tools.

The University has a Guest House with A/C and non-A/C rooms which are primarily meant for the guests of the institute. A full-fledged Conference Room forms a part of the Guest House.

The University has two Canteens inside the campus to cater to the requirements of food and refreshments for the staff and the students. The central canteen is run by the experienced farm selected through the bid while the other canteen is volunteered by women Self Help Group. Both the canteens serve homely food. 

The University has a health center inside the campus. It is equipped with all the primary medical facilities. A medical officer and a staff nurse are in charge of the health center to address the medical needs of both staff and students of CIT. An ambulance is available 24×7 Hrs to provide emergency medical services to both staff and students. A medical insurance facility is available for staff and students.

The University has a Gym facility for the students.

The University has Games and sports are encouraged among the students of the institute since they keep a healthy balance between the physique and the mind of an individual. The institute provides all the basic sporting facilities to the hostel boarders. The institute has a sports complex with facilities to play basketball, Volleyball, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, etc. Recently, the Institute has modernized the sports complex with new facilities. The institute playground is under construction and will be ready by the start of a new session. Every year sporting competitions are organized among the students during occasions like “Ecstasy”, the annual sports and cultural week of the Institute.

The University has provides full-fledged internet and LAN connectivity to the administrative block, academic block, laboratories, workshops, staff quarters, guest house, and hostels within the campus. Wi-Fi Connectivity is also available to both the staff and the students inside the campus.

The University has A well-equipped virtual classroom has been recently inaugurated for attending and interacting with e-classes broadcasted from institutes like IITs, IISC, etc., and for organizing conferences, seminars, invited talks, etc.

The Alumni Affairs Office at CIT Kokrajhar consists of a dedicated team of faculty and student volunteers and staff members headed by Associate Prof. Pranav Kumar Singh. The Office is further assisted by the Advisory Committee consisting of faculty representatives from each Department. The Office of Alumni Affairs is mandated to serve the student community of CITK by strengthening the relationship with our Alumni and facilitating Interdisciplinary Research and Industrial Relations.
