M.Tech Mechanical Systems Design - Batch of 2026-01-01

Academics

Being an IIT, the curriculum focuses on practical learning rather than rote learning. Each subject has project or presentation type activity which carries marks. Professors dont spoon feed but enlightens the path to find the solution. Curriculum focuses on industry relevant skills such as learning CAD/ softwares, programming language etc.

College Infra

IIT Indore has one of the best infra in IITs. Its hostel facilities are above the marks. 6BHK + 2 toilets + 2 bathroom type unit system, makes best place for residence for students. The PODs contain all labs and depts. The Library building and Administrative building also have unique architecture. It has state of the art, lecture halls, seminar halls and auditorium of 2000 capacity.

Campus Life

Campus Life is little less happening as compared to other IITs. Though we've our annual fest FLUXUS. And also many tech fest and inter colleges sports are played. Celebrating festivals together, you won't miss your family.

Placements

Placements of Bachelors are quite handsome but Masters still struggle a little bit. But nonetheless the collaborative effort of TPCs and TP cell has a huge outreach. This year Masters program placement were very poor. But for 2026 batch, we students are taking initiatives to reach out companies for campus recruitment.

Value For Money

For IITs, the fees are majorly set by the govt including a minor variation in hostel fees. Hostel facilities are very good. The Bachelors program gets completed within 10lacs and Masters within 2.5lacs and Master student also get stipend of ₹12400 via GATE

Ph.D Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering - Batch of 2026-01-01

Academics

The Ph.Dprogram is strong, with expert faculty like Dr. Amit Kumar and Dr. Prashant Kodgire. They focus on molecular biology, drug discovery, and neuro-robotics. Coursework is tough but good for research. Supportive teachers, some extra sessions offered.

College Infra

IIT Indore got modern labs, NMR spectrometer, and X-ray diffractometer for research. Campus is big, 501 acres, with good hostels and health centre. Some construction still going on, but facilities is top-notch for Ph.D. work. Wi-Fi and library is great too.

Campus Life

Campus life is nice, with 5 hostels like A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Clubs, sports, and events like tech fests keep it lively. Devi Ahilya hostel for women is good. Health centre and sports facilities are decent, but some say extracurriculars need more focus.

Placements

Placements for Ph.D. Biosciences is limited, around 40-50% get jobs. Average package is 4-6 LPA, low for IIT. Many students go for postdocs or academia instead. Placement cell helps, but industry jobs are less for this field.

Value For Money

Ph.D. fees is about INR 2.41 lakh, bit high but worth for IIT tag. Scholarships like merit-cum-means available. Research facilities and faculty make it good value, but job prospects could be better for cost. Still, great for research career.

Overall, it is a great place for a solid IIT experience.

M.Sc Physics - Batch of 2018-01-01

Academics

Academically IIT Indore follows the same rigorous and high-quality curriculum as other IITs. The teaching here is a good mix of theory and practical application, with labs and research projects given a lot of importance. Students also get opportunities to work on internships and participate in national and international conferences.

College Infra

IIT Indore is one of the newer IITs but it has made a name for itself quite quickly. The infrastructure is modern and well-maintained. The classrooms are equipped with smart boards, good seating, and proper ventilation. The hostels are clean, with spacious rooms, high-speed Wi-Fi.

Placements

As for placements, IIT Indore performs very well. Big companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Tata, L&T, and many startups visit the campus. The placement cell is quite active and provides good support in terms of preparation and training.
